Birmingham City will be hoping to claim a first win of the new Championship season when they travel to Vicarage Road for Saturday's live match with Watford.

Birmingham City were many people's pick to win the Championship this season but they have made a poor start, failing to beat Charlton in their opening match and then losing to another newly promoted club, Sheffield Wednesday, during the week. Lee Clark's reign at St Andrews promised much but so far it is failing to deliver.

The former Huddersfield Town boss will stick with his attacking football philosophy when the Blues travel to Vicarage Road to take on Watford on Saturday evening. It is 7/4 at Ladbrokes that they beat the Hornets but that is a very short price on a side that are pretty unproven.

Watford are, of course, much more of an unknown with Gianfranco Zola's squad packed full of loanees from Udinese. The assumption is that these players will guide the club to promotion but they haven't looked all that classy in their narrow victory over Crystal Palace and defeat to Ipswich so far.

Watford are, however, overpriced at 17/10 with Bet Victor to beat Birmingham on Saturday as Vicarage Road is a tough place for an away side to come, particularly one that will open up and leave gaps at the back. So far Birmingham have conceded four goals in two matches and the hosts will enjoy having some time and space to pass the ball about in.

The home side are not exactly water-tight themselves though and for that reason the best bet on Saturday's match may well be to simply back that there will be goals at Vicarage Road. Over 2.5 can be backed at 9/10 with Ladbrokes, which seems a little on the big side, particularly give Birmingham's 3-2 loss at Shefffield Wednesday during the week.
