Cardiff, a bit like West Ham, are fast becoming the draw specialists of the Championship and another stalemate could be on the cards again this weekend.
The Welsh club do not appear to have recovered from their agonising Carling Cup final defeat to Liverpool on penalties, although they didn’t really go to Wembley in much form anyway.
It’s now just two wins in their last 12 league games for Malky MacKay’s side, whose forwards are struggling to find the back of the net.
Kenny Miller in particular has been enduring a dismal time. The Scotland striker was prolific up to the end of January, but has failed to score in his last 13 appearances for his club and cannot even get in the starting line-up at present.
Peter Whittingham has, as usual, done his bit to chip in with a dozen goals this term, but you get the impression the Bluebirds are crying out for a red-hot marksman.
Millwall are hit and miss at present but doing just enough to stay out of the relegation dogfight.
Interestingly, their last four league wins have all come away from home and they have scored three goals each time – you can make that five if you include the FA Cup third round tie away to Championship leaders Southampton.
However, for all that Cardiff are not firing on all cylinders, they still present a tougher test than Doncaster, Peterborough, Burnley and Barnsley, the Lions’ last four victims on their travels.
MacKay will be aware of what Kenny Jackett’s team are capable of on the road and you can imagine him wanting to keep it tight.
Three of the last four meetings between these clubs have ended as draws and that scenario, a 5/2 chance with
Bet365, could unfold again.
It could also be worth covering your stake by backing under 2.5 goals at Evens just in case one team pinches it near the end.
Prediction: Draw @ 5/2 (Bet365); Under 2.5 goals @ Evens (Bet365)
