Cardiff have won both their Championship home games since changing their first-choice kit colour from blue to red during the summer and were particularly impressive last time out, a Peter Whittingham hat-trick earning a 3-1 win over Leeds.

The Welsh club certainly mean business this season after a series of near misses in their quest to reach the Premier League and manager Malky MacKay has not been afraid to splash the cash and overhaul his squad.

It looks as though the home form will be key to Cardiff’s promotion push for their results on the road have been disappointing so far, but they will not face many tougher visitors than Leeds.

Neil Warnock has the golden touch in the second tier of English football, as he has shown with Sheffield United and QPR in recent years, and we expect him to achieve his last big challenge by taking Leeds back to the promised land.

Last term did not end well for the Whites as they dropped away from the play-off hunt, but Warnock’s summer signings have given the squad a stronger look and in Luciano Becchio he has a revitalised striker who is banging in the goals for fun.

Both of Leeds’ away games so far have finished 2-1, a victory at Peterborough and a defeat at Blackpool where they did not deserve to lose having led for almost an hour.

They always look capable of scoring now and with Ross McCormack sure to want to silence the likely boos from the fans of his former club, Leeds can leave with a satisfactory point from a game that could well be a Premier League fixture next year.
