Bolton are looking to bounce back from the weekend’s disappointing loss to Burnley when they host Derby this Tuesday.
Owen Coyle endured a tremulous return to Turf Moor at the weekend as his Bolton side were out-classed and out-fought by former club Burnley. Wanderers kicked off the season as one of the betting favourites for the title, but showed very little to suggest that they will make an immediate return to the top flight this season.
“I felt we lost a poor goal,” said Coyle after the game. “We huffed and puffed without really imposing and I think we had one cleared off the line from Zat Knight at a corner but we certainly didn't create the goalscoring opportunities that I would have wanted.”
They do, however, have an opportunity to put things right almost immediately. Bet365 offer odds of 8/11 on The Trotters getting off the mark this Tuesday with a home win.
While Bolton will be disappointed with their performance Derby County have reason to be angry that they did not take all three points from their opening game. Having taken a two-goal lead inside 30 minutes of their derby match with Sheffield Wednesday, The Rams surrendered to late pressure from their opponents and could not hold on for the win.
“They put us under a lot of pressure without creating too many chances but when we got to the 89th or 90th minute we thought we had done enough but one mistake again has cost us,” said manager Nigel clough after the 2-2 draw.
Derby are an appealing 4/1 with Stan James to take all three points from The Reebok stadium this midweek, with the draw at odds of 5/2.
