West Ham United will look to regain top spot in the Championship when they visit fellow promotion hopefuls Blackpool on Tuesday night.

The Hammers were forced to look on as Southampton regained top spot in England’s second tier this past weekend, going two points clear. However, West Ham (Championship Winner 6/5 @ Boylesports, To Be Promoted 2/7 @ bet365) have now played two games less than Saints and will have every confidence of returning to the summit in the near future, with this game-in-hand their first opportunity (Match Odds – Blackpool 7/5, Draw 12/5, West Ham 85/40 @ BetVictor).

However, Blackpool will be no pushover as they too seek an immediate return to the Premier League (To Be Promoted 7/2 @ SkyBet). Ian Holloway’s men have been solid at home this season, taking 31 points from 15 games to average just over two points from each of their outings at Bloomfield Road, and that shows the Hammers will have to be on top of their game to leave with points. A seven-game unbeaten run has put them in the play-off places and they will be keen to continue that sequence here.

There is never a shortage of goals when Blackpool take to the field, and rather than having one dominant goalscorer they have share them about this season with Gary Taylor-Fletcher (23/10 anytime goalscorer @ Paddy Power) and Matt Phillips (7/4 anytime goalscorer @ Betfred) combining for 19 Championship goals. West Ham hammered their hosts 4-0 when these two teams met at Upton Park earlier this season, and while it is unlikely that we will see a repeat of that scoreline, there is the potential for goals at Bloomfield Road (Over 3.5 Goals – 11/5 @ BetVictor). And it is expected that West Ham will score the most.
