Matt Jarvis was left out of Wolverhampton Wanderers’ squad to face Aldershot today as the winger looks to engineer a move away from Molineux.
Wolves have already rejected offers in the region of £9million from West Ham, with Stoke and Fulham amongst those also monitoring the situation. But the player is thought to be keen to leave the club and it was reported this morning that he had handed in a transfer request.
Although the club have yet to comment on the situation they announced on their official Twitter feed: “Matt Jarvis not involved today. He is ill.” Then after a barrage of replies questioning the legitimacy of the player’s illness they added: “We've just spoken to club doctor who said there was no way Matt Jarvis was fit to play today.”
The protestations have done little to quell the fear amongst fans that Jarvis will be leaving the club this summer, with Michael Kightly already moving to Stoke and striker Steven Fletcher handing in a transfer request.
William Hill currently make Wolves a 10/1 chance to win The Championship and 5/2 that they get promoted this season. Although those odds could lengthen if Jarvis and Fletcher follow Kightly out of the exit door.
