Bolton Wanderers manager Owen Coyle believes influential midfielder Mark Davies will remain with the Lancashire outfit beyond the summer transfer window.
The playmaker has been linked with a move away from the Reebok Stadium since the club was relegated from the Premier League last term.
Bolton made a disappointing start to life in the Championship after they were beaten 2-0 by local rivals Burnley at Turf Moor on Saturday.
Following the rude awakening to life in the second tier, Coyle has admitted Davies is key to his plans to get the Trotters back in the Premier League after the disappointment of last season.
He said: “I spoke to him the other day and he intimated to me he was happy here and wanted to be a part of Bolton Wanderers’ plans.
“That is good enough for me.
“Anyway, we are not looking to dismantle a squad. We are trying to assemble a young hungry squad to get us back to the Premier League. Mark Davies is a huge part of that.”
Bolton will be determined to get their first points on the board on Tuesday night when they host Derby County at the Reebok Stadium (Bolton 8/11, draw 5/2, Derby 4/1 with Betfred).
