There are reports in Thursday’s papers that Martin O’Neill is not interested in returning to Leicester City as manager, with the northern Irishman having been out of the game since resigning as Villa boss a little over a year ago.
The bookmakers have now installed Lee Clark as favourite for the job, with the Huddersfield manager as short as even money with
Sky Bet to be named as Sven-Goran Eriksson’s successor, although you can get 3/1 with Unibet that the Geordie makes the switch to the Midlands club.
Mark Hughes remains short in the betting, with
bet365 offering 7/2 that the Welshman makes a return to management after leaving Fulham at the end of last season.
Billy Davies is also among the favourites at 5/1 with bet365, with O’Neill out to 8/1 on the Stan James market although some firms keep him shorter in the betting thanks to the liabilities they have on the Leicester legend.
Rafael Benitez is a 20/1 chance and Alan Curbishley can be backed at 25/1 with
Paddy Power, although it could be a straight tussle between Clark and the more experienced Hughes.
