Mick McCarthy set to become the next Leeds United manager?
The next Leeds United manager betting market has got a new addition after Mick McCarthy was sacked by Wolves on Monday
Wolverhampton Wanderers aren’t the only club searching for a new manager, with Leeds United looking to replace Simon Grayson on a permanent basis and perhaps the right candidate is now available.
Mick McCarthy was unable to survive as Wolves manager following the team’s 5-1 home defeat to West Brom and the Yorkshireman might fancy an instant return to football management, with
Paddy Power making the 52-year-old a 13/2 chance to take over at Elland Road.
Caretaker boss Neil Redfearn has drifted out to 4/1 with Sportingbet following Leeds’ 2-1 home defeat to Brighton on Saturday, while one-time favourite Neil Warnock is a 6/1 chance with
Bet Victor.
Billy Davies, Rafael Benitez and Alan Curbishley are also on the shortlist, although the latter has stated an interest in managing at Wolverhampton Wanderers and he could be installed at Molineux.
Mick McCarthy was given his marching orders on Monday, with the 52-year-old getting the sack at Wolves after his team’s abysmal performance during a 5-1 defeat at home to West Bromwich Albion.
Wanderers looked as though they might have turned the corner when winning 2-1 at QPR last week, although the team simply crumbled against Albion on Sunday, with owner Steve Morgan acting decisively to give a new manager time to keep Wolves in the Premier League.
McCarthy had previously steered the team into the Premier League and this is their third season in the top flight, although they only just escaped the drop last term and the manager has been looking vulnerable this term.
The supporters had previously questioned the manager’s decision-making during matches against Swansea City and Aston Villa, with the hunt now on for a new candidate.
