Neil Warnock has been the subject of a large gamble in Leeds to get the city’s top football job, bookmaker William Hill have revealed.
Warnock had been as big as 9/2 when Lee Clark left Huddersfield and became favourite for the job, but the ex-Sheffield United and QPR boss has been well supported on Friday, in and around Leeds, both online and in shops. Bets of up to £500 were being placed all day on Friday on Warnock getting the job.
Warnock is now 1/3 firm favourite to take the Elland Road hotseat ahead of Lee Clark at 11/2, Billy Davies and Mick McCarthy at 8/1 and Steve Bruce at 9/1.
William Hill spokesman Joe Crilly told The-Championship: “Whether this is punters in the know or punters hoping that Warnock will get the job, we are not sure, but it would appear that Warnock is the name on everybody’s lips in Leeds at the moment.”
