Huddersfield Town are maintaining Jordan Rhodes could play in their Championship match at home to Nottingham Forest on Tuesday even though the prolific striker could be set to join Fulham.
The centre forward, who scored 40 goals last season for the Terriers, did not feature in the 1-0 defeat at Cardiff last Friday night that opened the English league season.
According to manager Simon Grayson, that was because Rhodes had suffered a hamstring injury when playing for Scotland in their friendly international against Australia.
But with Fulham and Blackburn Rovers being strongly linked with the 22-year-old, it will be of significant interest whether Rhodes lines up against Forest just 10 days before the transfer deadline.
Blackburn were understood to be making a £6million bid, but now Fulham’s odds to sign the marksman have collapsed with
BetVictor offering the best price of 1/2 that Rhodes will move to Craven Cottage by August 31. Rovers’ price has drifted to 7/4 at
Sky Bet.
Grayson told the Huddersfield Examiner: “Jordan has been doing some work with the physios and we’ll see how he comes through.
“He wasn’t too far away from playing the other night and we’ll give him until the last minute to prove he’s okay for the Forest game.
“If there’s any doubt, we obviously won’t risk him because we don’t want him ruled out for any length of time.”
Huddersfield and Forest are both 7/4 with
