Diego Maradona is among the leading contenders to replace Steve Cotterill as Nottingham Forest manager, according to the bookmakers.

The Argentina legend is quoted as 10/1 fourth favourite by Sky Bet following speculation that he was being lined up for the job after being sacked by UAE club Al Wasl, although Stan James offer 20/1.

Cotterill has left the club just 24 hours after the takeover of Forest was completed by the wealthy Al-Hasawi family from Kuwait, who were thought to want to bring in a big global personality as manager.

Harry Redknapp is another name that has been mentioned and Sky Bet make the sacked former Tottenham boss their 5/2 second favourite behind Darren Ferguson, who was linked with the job while the takeover was still pending.

Stan James have Sir Alex’s son, the current Peterborough manager, as their 5/4 favourite ahead of Mick McCarthy and Alex McLeish, both at 6/1.
