It might be the case that West Ham are scrapping it out with Reading for that second automatic promotion place, with the Royals being surprisingly beaten at London Road on Tuesday night which means the Hammers go to second if they win their game in hand.

Nevertheless, Brian McDermott’s team are 8/13 with bet365 to gain promotion, with either themselves, West Ham or Southampton set to end up in the play-offs.

The other three play-off places look firmly up for grabs, with Brighton, Middlesbrough and Birmingham currently sitting in the top six, although Blackpool, Cardiff and Hull could all squeak into the play-off zone.
